Annual Summer Luncheons: Each summer, Davis Farm to School (DF2S) hosts two special luncheons to honor Davis Joint Unified School District staff and volunteers that contribute valuable time and energy to school garden and recycling programs. In June, we hosted a luncheon at the home of DF2S President Dorothy Peterson to honor all school garden and DavisRISE Coordinators, volunteers and teachers. DF2S Steering Committee members made delicious seasonal salads, and guests enjoyed a relaxing summer lunch. School Board members and DJUSD Superintendent of Business Services Bruce Colby were in attendance as well. In July, we hosted the annual Custodial Luncheon at Harper Junior High. 62 DJUSD Custodians came to enjoy a lunch prepared by the DF2S Steering Committee. Superintendent Winfred Roberson and Superintendent of Business Services Bruce Colby presented the 2010-11 Outstanding Custodial Awards to five custodians who work above and beyond the call of duty in support of their school site garden and/or recycling program. Award winners are nominated by staff at their school site. Davis Farm to School administers the awards and provides a $75 stipend to each award winner.
